Fieldwork runs Monday to Friday with weekends free. Tide-dependent surveys start early; activities rotate between weeks so nothing repeats.

Setting

Trang Province on the southern Andaman coast, between Krabi and the Malaysian border — a coastline of mangrove estuaries, seagrass meadows (Thailand's most important dugong habitat), and offshore islands including Koh Ngai and Koh Libong. Programme sites centre on Sikao and the near islands. Accommodation initially split between Dugong Village on the mainland and Thapwarin on Koh Ngai offshore.
